House of Ross
Thanksgiving

IT's Sunday November 27th. Listening to NPR's Car Talk on internet radio (San Francisco). Yesterday at this time, also listening to Car Talk the task at hand was to begin the process of Holiday Cleaning starting with the countertop pictured on the left.

Last week I was writing about the affects of class and prejudice on my upbringing. If you notice in the picture, you'll see that there is a real-wood blind separating the living room and dinette area in this 1950 Spartan Royal Mansion Park Model Trailer. Wood blinds were a big, big deal back in the 50's. Only the wealthy had them. Lower classes had nothing, or curtains Middle class might have shades. But this was 'it'! So here I am, 50 years leater cleaning my wood blinds with pride and passion. It feels somehow, just great! The art decco cabinetry is the real thing - birchwood and not plastic, formica or fiberboard. It's one of the reasons we were so happy with this trailer house. In 1950 it cost $8,000. By contrast, in 1980 a Winnebago cost $8,000. This was, and remains, a luxo-coach. LOL, and the feng shui is lovely, too.

It's been quite a holiday weekend - a huge breakthrough with the creative approach to past (rodt's memorial site; ROSS & ross archive site and O/our book); present (House Of Ross) and the future new identities all taking place here at LeatherWeb. It's a fantastic feeling to have one's passions back at play. This page is one great outcome. Fewer e-mails with pix attached ahead. It's all happening here now.

The pictures to the left show the leaves piling up. But the trees show how much more clean-up there is ahead. A new view to the South has opened up here. Sat outside in the warm sun reading car books on Saturday afternoon after an excursion to the "bone yard" up on the hill (see slide show below). When I saw the new grass coming up through the gravel in front of the garage it said great place for a picture of the Hornet. This car is the oldest relationship - since 1983 (It's a 1972 "Sport-a-bout" model. Fixed it's radio this afternoon. It's such fun to cruise around in, too. A "Detroit Lover".

The mum's are in bloom. (see the slide show below). But it's also below freezing at night here - and the rains'are on the way, too. Took a long hot private bath this afternoon at the Drop-In Center complete with candle and music from Eastern Europe, Spain, Cuba, Argentena, and Mexico - all on internet radio from Santa Monica.

Everythings great.
