Sunday, September 6th...
You couldn’t have asked for better weather for last Sunday’s 16th annual Leather Daddy’s Boy contest at the Eagle. A record crowd was on hand to see seven men vie for the title. The contestants were Tony Apedale, Jim Drew, Todd Kepus, Alex Lindsay, Chris Magnani, Jeff Minster and James Simmons. The judges (Steve Gaynes, Erin Kelly, Rick Lubrano, David Meyer and Ray Tilton had their hands full with the group of aspirants and Mr. Tilton proved to be the most er, uh, "provocative" questioner! The "boys" were obliged to sell raffle tickets (which benefited the AIDS Emergency Fund) for various nice prizes and Loren Berthelson and Kelly Showers proved to be very adequate as the emcees. Outgoing Daddy’s Boy David Meyer delivered a touching stepping down speech thanking various individuals who helped him with his title year and the moment of truth arrived. The 1st runner-up was Alex Lindsay from Oakland and the winner this year is Todd Kepus. Todd demonstrated that patience and persistence finally paid off. No stranger to contests, Todd has been out there competing and contributing to the betterment of the community. Well now with a sash and a title, it is likely he will bring honor to the title and there seems to be a lot of optimism for him. Lots of out of town people were on hand, the "early birds" who will stay through the Folsom Street Fair and San Francisco Leather Pride Week. |
